The Harvest Dinner

To day was the harvest dinner. For those of you who haven't lived in Wells your whole life the harvest dinner is a dinner put on by the Presbyterian church every fall. This is when you find a piece of paper on your car after church with a picture of the Presbyterian church on it. And you think, Wait a minute, I've seen this before," and you remember, "Oh yeah, the invitations are the same every year." This is when you go in to a tiny room full of noisy people and fill a plate with some good food. This is when you look through the tables full of people and pick out the ones that are LDS because they have their church clothes on. This is when, after you sit down, you notice some mean girls from your basketball team last year along with Madison Hooper serving. This is when you go sit with the Myers or the Ashbys before they moved. This is when you happily go look at the dessert table and come back with a scrumptious looking piece of pumpkin pie. This is when you come home thinking I love the harvest dinner because you don't have to wait until you get home (which is 30:00 minutes away.) This is when you hear your mom talking on the phone to some one saying, "To day was the harvest dinner (a pause) It was just like its always been," and you think yes It's just like it's always been.

  1. You're an awesome writer. The only problem is that you piece of pumkin pie was the last one. I wanted it! It's ok! :)

  2. I was hoping to go to the dinner, but I didn't want to go without Enoch and he was home sick. I didn't know you were going, or I would have come to experience the famous harvest dinner with you guys. You gave such a great description though, that I feel like I was there!

  3. I wish I could have gone too. Do they still have ham? Was Donna McCormick there? Someday remind me and I'll tell you about babysitting for her. You'll be JEALous that you didn't get to go too.
